“By The Way” is Washington Post’s new travel destination. It’s a new digital travel initiative creating city guides and other content from writers that live in cities around the world, so readers feel like a local wherever they go. Their guides skip all the tourist spots and cut right to off-the-beaten-path, local favorites. They have been finding photographers and illustrators in each city to further drive home the “hometown” feel and asked me to represent Berlin.
My approach was to create an artwork that not only reflects the vibe of Berlin with it‘s dynamic composition and colors, but also incorporate some of the most popular Berlin things such as the TV tower or the Berlin phone code 030.
