Silent Waters

2024

Oil on canvas + AR,
Size: 250 x 200 cm

Silent Waters tells a deeply personal story — an intimate reflection on the connection between me and my father. The abstract figure on the left represents the father—a quiet, patient fisherman who casts his line into calm waters for hours, not to catch anything but simply to be present in the moment.

In summer 2024, he me how to fish. We sat together, pulling nothing but seaweed from the water, yet those moments were filled with profound beauty. Through this experience, I learned to let go of the expectation of tangible results and instead savor the moment itself.

The flowing, translucent forms in the painting evoke the movement of water and time while symbolizing the release of expectations. This work is not just about fishing; it is about connection — unspoken yet deeply felt. This painting serves as a frozen memory — a celebration of patience, love, and the beauty of letting go and immersing oneself in the present.
